Four Seasons Wedding

When I think of Jinley and Mario’s wedding, I see glamourous outdoor elegance.  Having a Las Vegas wedding without actually feeling like you are in Vegas is something that the Four Seasons provides.  Jinley reminds me of myself as she knew exactly what she wanted and how she wanted it.  Every detail she wanted we made sure came to life on her wedding day.  Her husband Mario is quiet and just wanted her to get what she wants. (The perfect match)  From the invitation details to the cake and entertainment, every little detail was well thought out and executed.  Speaking of the custom wedding invitations, along with place cards and seating chart were all produced by 1st Impressions Invitations.  After first speaking to Jinley over the phone, we had everything planned within weeks so she could relax and enjoy their engagement.  She couldn’t have been an easier bride to work with and although she is from Hawaii, there was no stress at all.

The day began with hair and makeup by Sarah Redzikowski & team for 8 bridesmaids and the mothers.  The ceremony and reception took place at the Fountain Terrace at Four Season’s Las Vegas in April.  The weather was 80 degrees with minimal wind and the perfect spring day for an outdoor wedding.  The beautiful flowers were created by the ever so talented Naakiti floral who brought all of Jinley’s visions to life.  During the ceremony, the romantic music was provided by TAJ, a duo act from T Entertainment.  Rustic signs throughout the wedding were created by a very talented and close friend of mine Kelly from her Etsy Shop From Kelly with Love.  Catering and the exquisite wedding cake was provided by the Four Seasons.  The menu consisted of 4 tray passed Hors D’oeuvres: mini lobster club, beef tenderloin, Maryland crab cake, tempura shrimp served during cocktail hour.  The reception menu was a 4 course plated dinner that included: portabello mushroom and cheese ravioli, crab louie, roasted and carved prime rib, and their 3-tiered custom wedding cake served as a duo plate of strawberry shortcake & carrot cake.  (Check out the cake photo below… it was absolutely breathtaking).  They also had two ice carving luges from Ice Occasions; DJ, photo booth & Marquee Letters from Elegant Entertainment, and Bistro lighting from LED Unplugged.  All of the photography in this blog and from their wedding day was shot by one of my favorites Susie and Will.  They also had cinema created by Adam Trujillo.  The highlight of the wedding of course was having their dog Weezy as the Ring Bearer.  Jinley and Mario, I could not thank you enough for allowing you to trust in me to plan and be apart of your perfect wedding day.  I look forward to seeing what the future brings you both!

Please enjoy their wedding photos below and thank you Susie for capturing such beauty in every element:

Pool Party Wedding Reception

When I met Sara and TJ, I knew I had to immediately be part of their wedding.  They got married in June in Las Vegas and I never encourage an outside reception but theirs was brilliant.  I will add first, the family was coming in from the Ukraine and couldn’t wait to attend a traditional American wedding but this is not quite what they experienced.  The wedding ceremony was a beautiful traditional ceremony at the Sayer’s Club inside SLS.  Their guests were told though to wear resort casual and even their swimsuits.  Many were stunned when they invites arrived and no on showed up to the ceremony in their swimsuits. Everyone did however come to the cocktail hour and reception in their beach wear and ready to take a dive in the pool.  Their reception took place at the Lux Pool at SLS and it was a pool party reception.  They had the huge swan and flamingo rafts as decor for the pool so guests could enjoy a float on them.  This definitely wasn’t your traditional wedding reception but it was a huge hit.  This wedding was so much fun to plan and it truly was a great idea.  I encourage all of my summer couple’s if they must get married in Vegas in 100 + degree weather, why not do a fun nontraditional reception.

Christina & Matt

Las Vegas wedding planner, desirable events by desi

Christina and Matt are a gorgeous couple who met in Las Vegas but both have midwestern family roots.  I met them a while back but ran into them again just as they were finishing up all their wedding details.  Christina seemed a little flustered on how the day would actually turn out and who would direct her vendors, bridal party, and guests.  I suggested hiring a day of coordinator and that is how I ended up with this gorgeous event.  She needed some advice on the little things such as rentals, table numbers and place cards so I offered my assistance in gathering the few details they had left.

This gorgeous wedding took place on May 9th, 2015 at the Westin Lake Las Vegas.  Their guest list of nearly 130 filled up the romantic ceremony space that overlooked the golf course and Lake Las Vegas.  It was decorated with flowers and draping by Layers of Lovely, lanterns and mirror stand from Sit on This, and the garden chairs from the Westin.  The floral with the lit candles made for the romantic look along with the lake in the background, which was so perfect for this 6pm wedding.  The aisle also was alined with rose petals and the entrance for the bridal party was a grand walk.  Christina’s Uncle was the officiant for the ceremony and Matt’s sister did a reading which made the two families come together and brought a heart felt touch to the wedding.  Prior to the wedding, Christina and Matt did a letter exchange where they shared their love for one another that Matt’s Brother (the best man) exchanged with Christina and they each read aloud for the videographer.  They did this in place of their own vows to omit any nervous tension.

Following the wedding the guests stayed in the space and were served cocktails while Christina and Matt took their photos together.  About 30 minutes into the outdoor cocktail hour the wind really picked up and eventually we had a few rain sprinkles.  The room was ready so most of the guests didn’t even feel a drop of rain as they headed to the ballroom reception space.  I was worried about photos of Matt and Christina because there were a ton of outdoor spots they were going to use. Moxie Studio was their photographer and as windy/rainy as it was, they couldn’t have done a better job getting the shots in.  They had gorgeous clouds and even a rainbow in their shots.  We may not be able to control the weather, but they couldn’t have asked for more perfect timing.  Plus, a little rain is good luck right!

The reception was set with similar flower arrangements and lanterns from the ceremony with a few additions.  As guests entered they were greeted with a Thank you sign made by one of the bridesmaids as well as their blush glitter place cards that the bride put lots of detail in.  Guests sat in beautiful gold chiavari chairs with an ivory cushions and had gold chargers at their place settings. The sweetheart table had a very elegant chandelier above it provided by Sit on This.  The reception began with a grand entrance from the large bridal party of 13 plus the cutest little flower girl and ring bearer.  Then it was time for the new Mr. and Mrs. Bees to be announced by the amazing DJ Harry O.  They look absolutely gorgeous and so in love as they entered.  They immediately took the dance floor and danced a choreographed dance to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud”.  It was adorable and they danced so elegantly.  Following this was a blessing by Christina’s father followed by dinner. After dinner, the best man and maid of honor speeches were made along with a thank you from the couple.  The cake cutting of their chic wedding cake by Las Vegas Custom Cakes took place next.  Then Christina did a father daughter dance as Lighten Films captured this along with the entire wedding.  Finally the dance floor opened for guests to dance and I must say this dance floor was never empty.  In the middle, Christina (a former sorority member), asked her Alpha Chi Omega girls to join her on the dance floor.  They entered the dance floor with glow sticks which were their wedding favors and danced away to Dj Skrilla’s “Alpha Chi Omega Anthem”.  Guests were also handed glow sticks to join in on the fun and they sure danced the night away.  I haven’t planned a wedding where when the lights came on and every single guest were still on the dance floor wanting more.  They eventually were sent to the hotel bar to continue the celebration.  It was such a great group of people and truly an honor to be part of such a gorgeous event.

Gina & Corey

Mandarin Oriental Wedding, Alt f photography

Gina and Corey found Desirable Events by Desi a little over a year prior to their selected wedding date. We met over Skype as they were from Virginia and instantly clicked. They are such a beautiful couple and their wedding just turned out gorgeous.  They wanted their wedding in Las Vegas because it is their home away from home as they travel here quite often and it is where Corey proposed to Gina.  It made for the perfect destination wedding for them.  When I first met Corey in person he had two requests: a Jager Bomb station and a Flair Bartender. Right then and there I knew this was going to be such a fun wedding to plan.  Although they did not have either one of Corey’s requests, we came up with a ton of fun ideas for the couple and their guests, which I will get into later in the post.

Mandarin Oriental pool ceremony

The wedding was held at the 5 star hotel, the Mandarin Oriental in the center of the Las Vegas Strip. Walking into the hotel alone, it takes your breath away by their decor but this couple added their personal touches and beautiful decor to make their event perfect. Naakiti Floral was hired to do all the beautiful centerpieces, bridal party flowers, parent flowers, and ceremony decor. With the strong winds outdoors for the ceremony, I had the news to either bring the wedding indoors to have the beautiful floral reveal the couple wanted or to just do without flowers and get married outside as planned. Corey and Gina both said rain, wind, or shine they wanted to have their ceremony outside. With the help of Naakiti, Mandarin, and my team, we made their request happen and they still had beautiful flowers down the aisle. Their ceremony was performed by Reverend Jimmy Mac. He made the ceremony so personal and memorable.  It was fabulous and Gina’s Vera Wang dress was gorgeous in the gusts of wind. Brio Strings was their string quartet that performed during the ceremony and cocktail hour. The lovely quartet works through T Entertainment.  It was a very romantic ceremony and with a hundred people still felt very intimate.

Las Vegas Wedding planning

The reception was in the ballrooms at the Mandarin with a beautiful view of the strip. With all of the gorgeous decor and personal touches, it was such a fun and memorable event. The unique table set up of a mix of long rectangular tables and circular tables half with blush linen and the other with sequin blush linen fit beautifully with their style.  They also had gorgeous centerpieces of mixed floral from white hydrenga, sahara roses, cream spray roses, white phals and white anemones.  Along the dance floor, Sit on this provided comfortable lounge furniture for the perfect look and so guests could rest their feet during dances.  Dj Miss Joy performed throughout the wedding with club inspired music that the bride and groom requested.  To add that extra special touch and tie the whole room together, Bliss Entertainment provided blush uplighting.

Gina and Corey were so thoughtful of their guests and had favors for them throughout the night. They started with their place cards being mini bottles of Chandon Rose. After their 5 course dinner that was served as the guests danced the night away they brought out glow sticks to add the Las Vegas club scene. These were by far a big hit with even the oldest guests. At the end of the night, they wanted to make sure each guest had another final treat with gourmet donuts.

Throughout the entire day, Heidi Ann and John Michael with Alt F photography took breathtaking photos of the couple.  They captured all the details throughout the event and left everyone involved with the most memorable photos.  All photos in the post were provided by them.

Tips for Outdoor Vegas Weddings

Tips for Outdoor Vegas Weddings:

Outdoor Vegas wedding

  1. Choose non summer months.  Late May through early September the temperatures reach  over the 100 degree mark; which is too hot for formal wedding attire. April and October are the best months to have outdoor weddings because temperatures arat between 75 and 85 degrees and sunset is around 6pm.
  2. Provide a favor to cool the guests. Handing out fans as favors or as programs are a great way to show guests you care and give out information on the wedding.
  3. For outdoor ceremonies offer guests a welcome cocktail or even just flavored water. One wedding I did provided guests with cucumber water as they entered the outdoor ceremony space and guests loved the refreshing touch.
  4. Have a backup plan. Although Vegas has mostly beautiful sunny days, there are still times that it may rain or is extremely windy. For rain, it is definitely a wise choice to take the wedding indoors instead. For wind purposes, it is a great idea to check with the venue to see if the location is a wind trap or if I actually blocks the wind. Wind will cause microphone problems that will lose intimacy in your ceremony.
  5. Decor choices. If you plan on using the beautiful natural look of a venue be sure that what you see months before the wedding is what will be there on your day. Most flowers in Las Vegas bloom certain times of the year and may only last a few weeks. By even seeing your venue a year away will not guarantee the natural scenery will be the same. It’s best to check with the venue on their opinion and also a week before make sure it is how you want it so you have the opportunity to add decor where needed.
  6. Food. Outdoor weddings sometimes do not have a kitchen facility right at the location so keep in mind food will be transported from somewhere else. You do not want your guests to have cold food that is supposed to be hot or warm food that should have been cold. Check with your caterer before deciding on venue and get a list of recommended food items so that your guests will have a memorable experience.
  7. Provide sunscreen and/or sunglasses. A cute touch and great favor to five guests are sunscreen packets and sunglasses. This will not only protect them from the sun but later in the evening make for props for photos.

Remember to make sure your day is everything you have desired and also think of the tiniest things to make your wedding stand out to guests. Everyone always appreciates how couples think of all the little things to keep their guests happy.
