Bachelorette

I did it again with success! I planned a surprise bachelorette party for my best friend Dayna from Michigan. The girls were visiting Vegas for the Redken hair show and when I found out in August, I knew what I had to do. Here is the planning breakdown of this amazing party

Invitations:
Since I am a wedding planner, of course I tend to plan far in advance. In August, I immediately made a timeline for the events and made invitations for the girls. Invites do not necessarily need to be sent for Bachelorette parties but it does get everyone more pumped for the event. The original plan was this:

5pm lingerie shower in suite
6:30pm Dinner
8:30pm Chippendales
10:30pm Club

The 2 bedroom 1,000 square foot suite at Mandalay Bay was perfect for a party of 11 girls. The view was gorgeous. The room was determined at check in the day of so a mass text would go out to those attendees. The execution of the event is similar. You will see the information below for the few changes:
6:00-7:30pm lingerie shower and food in suite at Mandalay Bay
8:30pm Chippendales at Rio
10:30pm Lily lounge at Bellagio

Dress:
We decided on Little Black Dress. Basically everyone just could be comfortable in anything black. It’s tricky of course to get the bride to wear white or red in this case but I had the plan down. A week prior, I called Dayna and we were talking about them coming and she brought up what she should pack. Perfect opportunity for myself, I went over the general stuff then said actually I need a favor. I told her I am working on a blog and I needed a photo of her either in a red or white dress since she is wearing both colors at her wedding. I told her a photographer was going to meet us to take a photo (which later I said they were doing a shoot that day at Mandalay and we had to meet them in the suite). It was the best of both her bringing the outfit and getting her to the big surprise. The only problem was when she put on the white dress she started freaking out because the zipper broke so she wore a super cute white top instead. I may have stretched the truth a bit but in order to keep surprises don’t we all?! We walked to the suite and knocked on the door to be greeted with our amazing friends. Dayna was truly surprised even through all the slip ups that weekend she had no idea.

Food and beverage:
Instead of going to a restaurant since we were short on time, we decided to cater in the room. We ordered food from BJ’s Brewery. The catering package included Mediterranean Pizza, Vegetarian Pizza, Caesar salad, BJ’s Cobb salad, ribs, buffalo wings, fries, and steamed vegetables. We also offered for cupcakery mini cupcakes for dessert. For the drinks, we wanted a variety but we didn’t want everyone to have too much fun before we left the room. We had vodka with different mixers, Cabernet Sauvignon, and of course a Rose of sparkling (bubbles is my new term).

Decorations made by Desirable Events by Desi

Decor:
Dayna loves leopard and with her wedding colors being black, red, and white this was perfect theme for bachelorette. I chose leopard and red as the main focus. We like to stay away from all the Penis type bachelorette party items. They can be fun if that’s your thing but this group of girls prefers to keep the plastic penis out. All of the decorations were made my me and can be purchased on my etsy. We hung a leopard bachelorette banner, streamers (bra and panty, heart), place cards for food, do not disturb and welcome door hangers, a bar sign, and a poster made out of pictures of the bride growing up from samsclub.com.

Bachelorette Party Favors

Favors:
For the bride I made a mini tulle leopard bow to go along with leopard Bride to Be sash. For everyone I made stickers that says either “bride to be! mother of the bride, or bride’s crew”. I also did leopard water bottles with red straws (everyone needs to stay hydrated), ring pops, and I made cute little drink tutus out of leopard and red tulle that we brought with us for our drinks but actually became bracelets.

Games:
There are plenty of cheesy, fun bachelorette party games out there. Again this group isn’t into the whole cheesy bachelorette so I thought if we just played one game it would be fun. I made up a Bachelorette categories game (similar to the categories in the “kings” drinking game) but each category was wedding themed. I printed out 20 different categories I came up with then cut them into pieces and put them into a basket. The game works like this, everyone sits in a circle, pulled a category and then went around the circle until someone couldn’t think of the topic. The girl would drink and then pull the next category. It’s a fun innocent game that helps get the party started without forcing the bachelorette to do uncomfortable things. We actually ended up not having time to play it but it is definitely a great alternative to the traditional bachelorette games.

Bachelorette Panty Poem

Gift:
My gift to the bride was a Victoria’s Secret bride tank top, leopard nail wraps, no hang over drink, and the popular panty poem. The panty poem is great especially because lingerie isn’t worn by everyone but everyone (well almost everyone) wears panties. The poem cards can be purchased on my etsy and comes with a list of what types of panties to buy or your option to buy them with the panties. She also received tons of Victoria’s Secret gift cards, lingerie, nighties, and adorable bracelet from her mother.

Chippendales

What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas right?! Well I will keep the Chippendale show and club under that category. It was a fun and awesome surprise for Dayna especially since (spoiler alert) she was called on stage at Chippendales. It was the perfect end to a “work weekend” and great surprise for the bride to be who was also celebrating her birthday weekend.

I will say planning a bachelorette party with a group of girls is never easy, so if you want it be worry free then feel free to hire a professional like myself. This way I do all the planning and everyone’s opinions are just that. Not everyone agrees on what to do so leaving it to a pro gets the stress of trying to make everyone happy off you. It’s supposed to be all about the bride remember. Keep her happy and the event will always be a success. Surprise Engagement Party Las Vegas

Surprise!

Surprise parties are always so much fun not only to throw but the planning process alone makes it fun. There are times where the planning process can be stressful though because let’s face it, we are trying to keep a secret. Why not hire a pro to do all the planning so that even you are surprised in the end? Desirable Events by Desi can plan any surprise event you desire. If you want to go the old fashion way and do it yourself please see the information below on this surprise engagement party Desirable Events by Desi put together on a budget.

Natalie and Marc were engaged in August and immediately began the planning process for their wedding. Natalie’s mother was coming out to Vegas in September so naturally we chose to throw the party when she was in town.

Food and Beverage:

The invites were actually private through social media (Facebook). Each guest was asked to bring a bottle of wine to the event as well as a food item. Desirable Events by Desi also provided homemade Sangria. Any leftover bottles of wine was meant for the couple to take to “Stock their Bar”. There were about 30 guests that arrived and with plenty of wine left over the couple sure did have a stocked bar. Desirable Events also set up favors of ring pops for all the guests.

Decor:

Desirable Events by Desi made the banners, vases, and decor for the event. We chose a wine theme as the couple loves wine so much. There were banners that said, “She said Yes”, “Marc put a ring on it”, Cheers, as well as photos of the couple. We made a cupcake stand out of a vase filled with wine corks and plate to top it. We also made centerpieces such as vases filled with wine corks and mason jars with burlap and flowers. We even added more of the wine touch by having wine bottles with flowers in them as well. For the food we made cards that said “She said Yes” and put them in wine cork placeholders. Each guest had their own wine glass with their names on the tag that read this wine is mine. Natalie and Marc drank out of bride and groom wine glasses. All of these items are available on etsy https://www.etsy.com/shop/DesirableEventsByDes?ref=hdr_shop_menu

Planning:

The location was at a friend of the couple’s home. The evites originally went out 3 weeks prior to the event and updated a week prior. The couple had no idea about the event. The mother of the bride said she bought tickets to a local comedy show for the couple and their friend. They were to go pick her up for the show. Just before the show Natalie’s friend asked them to come in for a glass of wine before the show. It all flowed together perfectly and it was a complete surprise for them. They had no idea when they walked through the doors that all their close friends would be inside.

Surprise parties again can be tricky to keep secrets. When done right though they come out to a huge success and really make whomever it is for feel special. Let us help you plan the best surprise party anyone has ever been to. Please contact Desi at http://www.desirableevent.com or desi@desirableevent.com for all your planning needs.

Sick of my Husband?!

Las Vegas wedding planners

Being in love and married is a wonderful thing. Getting to work with each other and being around each other all day is just an added bonus that I wouldn’t have any other way. We get asked non stop, “How are you not sick of each other?, Don’t you ever get time alone?, etc”. Well if you love someone as much as RJ and I love each other every minute we are not together is hard for us. We each own our own business so primarily all of our work is done from home. I love it though. We get to make our own schedules, plan trips whenever we want, we stay focused in getting our work done but we have the luxury of it being on our time. I am not writing this to brag about how awesome our lives are because yes there are a few times where I would like to say “Don’t you have to be somewhere”. I am sick of getting asked how I can stand being around my husband all the time. Think about it… Why would I have married someone only to never see him or be around him. How could I marry someone that “should” annoy me all the time so I need to spend time apart?! I don’t get how people judge us nor do I care. I am confused as to how we can so quickly be frowned upon because we are always with each other. We love each other and we honestly work best off each other. Every event and wedding that I plan he is my assistant and I love it. I’m so lucky he gets to share all the wonderful experiences I do. I think it helps him too get a break from just plastic recycling to share moments with my clients that are important to them. Each event brings us closer and closer together. I am so lucky to have an amazing assistant, supporter, cheerleader, and husband. Next time you are too quick to judge someone think maybe you just are not happy and secure in your relationship. Maybe you need a quick spice up your relationship or maybe you two grew apart. My advice, don’t judge people and try to make their positives a negative. Thank you RJ for being the most amazing and genuine person I have ever met.

First “Blind” Date

Hard time figuring out the perfect first date?

image

Looking for the man or woman of your dreams can be difficult with all the different apps and websites, you don’t know who you are meeting really until you get there. What if the person is completely different than their profile? What if they lied about their height or age? Judgement is quick to come by first looks but what if your first date didn’t have a “first look”. My last bride and groom inspired me to add a new event to my list of planning. They met on match.com and didn’t meet for a few months. When they did meet, she was so nervous that her friend and sister planned a blindfold date. It gave me the perfect plan to extend my planning services to not only those getting married but to those single guys or ladies that get nervous about first dates. I would love to help plan a first date/ future romance for anyone that wants to wow their date. We will plan a location, I will blindfold both of you and the date will be all yours. We can plan a dinner or just drinks. Whatever date you would like but the two of you will only have conversation to go by. It’s a great way to have a unique fun first date without all the nerves and stresses that come with it. If your dating just hasn’t gone well in the past or you are looking for a way to wow your date, please contact me at desi@desirableevent.com. Who knows maybe your first date will also turn into “I Do’s”.  Even if you are married and want to spice things up this is the perfect way to wow your spouse!

Stay tuned for the gorgeous New Year’s Eve wedding of this couple!
